Compagnie d’Elias, 2010. Tristan Driessens composes and plays oud. I play percussion. Tristan had written a lot of beautiful melodies, some at a young age, others later, and wanted to play them for dancers at folk balls. That is how we started.

From the beginning, it was remarkable how playing together brought me to a place of calm and centeredness. Something in the melodies and the way Tristan plays inspires me to find eloquence and expression in simple accompaniment. The poetic power of this simplicity led us to record an album with a selection of the most transcendent dance melodies as well as several compositions that arose in the quiet of a long journey in a covered wagon.

We bring this simplicity to our music and hope that you will find in it a freedom for the soul to rejoice in.
