LYLAC KEEPS PURSUING HIS NEVERENDING QUEST: TOUCHING OUR SOULS. HIS POP FOLK MUSIC RADIATES ALL AROUND US AND BRINGS LIGHT INTO THESE DOUBTFUL DAYS. WITH HIS NEW ALBUM "I’M THE STRANGER", LYLAC BEARS WITNESS TO A CHANGING WORLD WHERE HUMAN AND ECOLOGICAL CHALLENGES ARE AT THE CENTER OF THE CONCERNS.
After the success of his album "The Buffalo Spirit", nominated for the
D6bels Music Awards, les Octaves de la musique, and praised by rock
guru Georges Lang (RTL France), LYLAC (Amaury Massion) returns to
present a 4th album, made between bucolic sensitivity and rhythms rooted
in the Brussels concrete.
A new stage in the artist's journey, this new album “I’m the stranger”
mixes LYLAC's smooth and luminous writing style, highlighted by warm
strings on one side, and rhythmic modern sounds on the other.
The songs aim to find a harmonious blend between wooden instruments
(cello, violin), recalling the simple truth of the nature surrounding us, and
the world built by humanity (My quest, Dreamers).
“I’m the stranger” asks the simple question: is a reconnection between
men and nature, of which he is a part, possible?
Have we become strangers to the living world and to ourselves?
This is the path that LYLAC suggests to take in this poetic journey. He
bears witness to a changing world, where human and ecological
challenges are at the center of the discussions.
However, LYLAC does not forget his irresistible appeal of the Great Plains
with songs like Rebel Heart and We need to change. He also captivates us
without naivety or condescension with sublimated ballads like Sisters of
Mercy and As we run from the day.
Accompanied by the great cello player Merryl Havard. The latter plays
aerial musical lines that respond perfectly to the deep and light vocals of
Amaury Massion. Benoît Leseure's sharpened violins push our minds to
wander through the rhythmic sounds chiseled with contemporary colors.
Masterfully mixed by Pierre Vervloesem (Deus), who achieved the perfect
alliance between the warmth of the acoustic instruments and the rigor of
the programmed sounds.
“I’m the stranger” is an indie folk journey inviting us to start sharing,
exchanging, questioning, but never with judgment or complacency.
Being an inveterate globetrotter in perpetual search for light, LYLAC
continues his fragile quest as close as possible to our hearts.
